Arrest Records in Marshall County
Marshall County arrests may be made by the Sheriff's Office, Benton Police, Calvert City Police, Kentucky State Police, or another authorized agency. The officer's department keeps the incident and arrest narrative. If the person enters the Marshall County Detention Center, jail staff create a separate booking file. Later, the Circuit Court Clerk records the complaint, indictment, hearings, and outcome.
This split matters. A sheriff report can state the legal basis and arrest charge but not the final court result. A jail file proves intake and custody events, not guilt. A court file shows what the prosecutor filed and what the judge did. Fingerprint-supported arrest data may also flow to the Kentucky State Police repository.
Start with Marshall County Arrest Reports
The arresting agency is the best first stop for the officer's report. Call the Marshall County Sheriff at 270-527-3112 for sheriff incidents. Benton Police takes records questions at 270-527-3126 and policeinfo@cityofbenton.org. Calvert City uses its official city contact route and a written request to its city or police custodian. Kentucky State Police Post 1 keeps reports for its own arrests.
The official Marshall County Sheriff page confirms the sheriff's headquarters at 52 Judicial Drive in Benton.
Ask for the report number, arrest report, and any releasable incident narrative. Do not ask the detention center to supply an officer's investigation file.
Marshall County Arrest Lookups
No official anonymous Marshall County booking roster was verified. Use the agency, jail, court, and state channels in order. Each answers a different question, and a missing result in one system does not cancel a record held elsewhere.
- Identify the likely arresting agency and request its arrest or incident report.
- Call the Detention Center at 270-527-4760 to check current custody.
- Use Kentucky VINE for custody status and notification after release or transfer.
- Search KOOL only when the person may fall within KDOC incarceration or supervision data.
- Call District Court at 270-527-1721 for a new misdemeanor or felony-origin case, then Circuit at 270-527-3883 after indictment.
- Request the jail booking file from roger.ford@marshallcountyky.gov and compare it with the filed case.

Inside Marshall County Booking Records
Booking begins after an officer transports the arrested person and the jail verifies legal authority. Staff identify and search the person, create the intake record, take a photograph and fingerprints, screen health and classification needs, inventory property, and enter charges and bond. A court appearance or release decision follows. Each step can add a date, identifier, status, or document to the jail file.
The official Marshall County jail policy manual says prisoner records are secured against theft, loss, tampering, and destruction. It also provides a five-year retention period after release. A released person may vanish from a current custody check while the historic booking file remains available through a focused open-records request.

Arrest Records: What They Contain
A Marshall County arrest record identifies the event as the agency recorded it. Public copies can be redacted. Medical facts, juvenile information, protected victim data, and active-investigation material may be withheld under Kentucky law. The fields depend on whether the reader obtains an officer report or a jail booking record.
| Event | Report number, date, time, and location. |
|---|---|
| Authority | Arresting agency, officer, and warrant or warrantless basis. |
| Charges | Allegations and KRS citations recorded at arrest. |
| Booking | Intake time, photo and fingerprint identifiers, and property inventory. |
| Custody | Bond type or amount, release, transfer, and custody events. |
| Court link | Case number after filing, when available. |
A booking photograph may be public in some settings, but Kentucky exemptions can support withholding. Marshall County does not publish a verified public photo gallery, and no arrestee names or images are reproduced here. Ask the custodian for the releasable booking sheet and specific media needed. A court case number may not yet exist at intake, so follow up with District Court after charges are filed.
KOOL Misses Some Marshall County Arrests
Kentucky Online Offender Lookup can show people under KDOC incarceration or supervision and some people held locally within its reporting scope. It is not a complete live list of Marshall County arrests. KOOL offers name, alias, DOC or PID number, supervision status, location, county, age, offense, conviction county, and date filters. It warns that excess or inaccurate search data can suppress a match.
Use little information first. A KOOL profile may show conviction, sentence, parole, and supervision fields, but recent data may not yet be final. For immediate jail status, call the Detention Center. For the arrest narrative, return to the arresting agency. For a signed outcome, use the clerk.
KOOL results can list an offender's current location, PID and DOC numbers, generalized offense counts, expected service dates, parole eligibility, and supervision office. Those are correctional fields. They may reflect a conviction or state supervision long after the local booking, and they can omit an arrest that never entered KDOC's scope. Search aliases when a confirmed alternate name exists, but verify a possible match against the case number and non-sensitive identifiers.
Note: No verified Marshall County sheriff or city-police mobile app supplies an arrest or warrant search.
Recent Marshall County Bookings
For a recent Marshall County arrest, the fastest official check is a call to the Detention Center. Current custody can change after bond, release, transfer, or a court order. The lack of a live web entry does not show that no arrest occurred. Request the booking file when proof of intake, bond, or release is needed.
Kentucky VINE is the state's custody-notification layer.
VINE helps track custody changes and notifications, but it does not replace the officer report, booking file, or final Marshall County court judgment.
VINE is most useful after the initial jail call. A user can monitor a known custody record for release or transfer without treating the notification system as a lifetime arrest index. If someone leaves the roster, preserve the report number or booking date, then send a targeted request to the jail. The Marshall County policy keeps prisoner records for five years after release, which is far longer than a current-custody screen may show.
Marshall County City Arrest Routes
Benton Police publishes a direct local channel at 1009 Main Street. Its posted schedule lists a $5 criminal report, subject to access rules. Printed pictures and audio or video have separate posted charges. Those city fees do not apply to sheriff or jail records. Ask each custodian for an estimate before ordering.
Calvert City accepts written police-record requests by mail, in person, or electronically. A request must identify the requester, contact route, specific records, signature, and commercial or noncommercial use. Incidents outside those city jurisdictions may belong to the sheriff or KSP. Hardin does not appear to have a full municipal police-records system in the official sources, so identify the responding agency from the citation or dispatch record.
Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
An arrest records an officer's action and allegations at that time. A conviction requires a guilty plea or finding in court. The prosecutor may decline, amend, or replace an arrest charge. A judge may dismiss a charge, accept a plea, enter an acquittal, or impose sentence. Compare the agency record with the Marshall County Court Case Lookup before describing an outcome.
| Arrest Record | Conviction Record |
|---|---|
| Created by the arresting agency and jail | Created through a court case |
| Shows allegations and booking data | Shows the charge proved or admitted |
| Can exist even if no case is filed | Requires a filed case and disposition |
| Does not prove guilt | Reflects a guilty plea or finding |
Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt; always confirm the court disposition before relying on an arrest charge.
A dismissal can end the court prosecution without erasing every agency record. Kentucky expungement controls removal unless automatic expungement applies. Cases dismissed with prejudice or ending in acquittal on or after July 15, 2020 are generally expunged automatically after 30 days, apart from traffic cases and subject to the statutory objection process. Older or other eligible matters may need a certification and petition. Confirm the court file before assuming that a release, dismissal, or missing web result changed the booking record.
Requesting Marshall County Booking Records
The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, provides the framework for requests to local agencies. The county's official forms index is the starting point for published county request forms. Describe an existing record, such as a booking sheet for a named date, instead of asking the jail to explain what happened. Jail open-records requests go to roger.ford@marshallcountyky.gov. Sheriff requests go to the office at 52 Judicial Drive.
Some material may be withheld or redacted under KRS 61.878 and KRS 17.150. Common limits include active-investigation facts, juvenile records, medical details, protected victim data, and security-sensitive jail information. No official sheriff copy-fee schedule was found. Ask for estimated copy or media costs before fulfillment rather than using Benton Police's city fee schedule.
Marshall E-911 records follow a separate county request form. Its checklist covers call recordings, CAD reports, radio traffic, phone audio, photos or video, and a narrative report. An E-911 file may help identify dispatch times and responding units, but it is not the officer's arrest report or the jail booking. Request each record from its own custodian and use the same event date and report number to connect the files. Include the incident date, time range, and location so dispatch staff can isolate the existing record without guessing at the event.
